About Felix de la Concha

Félix de la Concha was born in 1962 in León, Spain. 

From 1981 to 1985, he studied at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Afterwards, he lived and worked in Rome, creating large-scale works including Nine Months in Donna Olympia, The Cypress at the Circus Maximus and A Promenade at Doria Pamphili, all of which have been exhibited in international museums. In 1989, he received the prestigious Prix de Rome.

In 1995 he moved to the United States. His solo shows in America include One Season from Each Corner at the Columbus Museum of Art, Private Portraits / Public Conversations at the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College and Fallingwater en Perspectiva, a touring exhibition.

His monumental collection, One a Day: 365 Views of the Cathedral of Learning is on permanent display at the Old Masonic Temple in Pittsburgh, and The Last Supper, a work created in 2000 to accompany his Fallingwater series, is installed at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh.

Around the world, he has shown at Museo de Bellas Artes in Santander, Spain; Museo del Chopo in México City; Centro Cultural La Recoleta in Buenos Aires and Rómulo Gallegos in Caracas. Panorama WBZ is permanently installed at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

De la Concha currently lives in Madrid and Iowa City.
